Years of frustration:
My family and I live in an area where there a lot of trees that have acidic leaves. The rain is acidic as well and moss grows on our lawn like wildfire. This set of circumstances has led me to spend hundreds of dollars at the local big box stores trying different lawn solutions. I have tried fertilizers, moss killing agents, and lime treatments. I cut down the two trees I thought were contributing to this high acidity the most. I tore up my lawn and replanted it with a seed designed to be highly resistant to high acidity. The last thing I tried was to build a shield around the lawn to keep the particles that were degrading it out of the equation. None of these worked much at all. The stress I felt about my lawn should not have reached the point that it had. Eventually I sought out commercial lawn care to take care of the situation.
Commercial Lawn Care:
The first appointment I had with a lawn technician went really well. He was able to describe the environmental factors that had led to my lawn problems in a manner that was easy to understand and parse. I guess the problem was highly common in the region and nothing limited to my own personal situation. He did say that the first step would be to kill the lawn, mulch it up, and replace it with some new lawn rolls carrying a seed that would be perfect for the climate. This was frustrating for me but I trusted his guidance and went ahead with the service. The second step he offered was to use a growth agent that I had never encountered before. He gave me a bag of lime for free and told me to spread it once a month along with a fertilizer to be applied the following weeks. The strangest process he enlisted my help with was to water the lawn with beer! I don't remember what this was to accomplish but within four months my lawn was looking beautiful. To anyone reading this article, I would recommend commercial lawn care in an instant. I spent too long fussing with my lawn and spent too much money when a quick four month treatment under the guidance of a lawn care professional was all I needed. I'm still not sure about the beer!
